What’s New !

The Witty Traveller is on it’s way!

The Witty Traveller has finally arrived! In his trunk, the distinguished beer flavours of the world. With a top-hat in hand he's stopped in Railway city to share his knowledge and adventure. With spices from the East, the fruits of the South, and yeasts of the North enveloped in taste and aromas of far flung places. He has stopped to offer us a pint!

The Witty Traveller's tale opens with a potpourri of spices and fruit - sweet anise seed and subtle orange rind. As you delve deeper into the libation you discover clove and bananas alongside soft and sweet arrowroot biscuit with a short layover of bubble-gum before cleansing fresh-pepper and gingersnap.

When asked, the Witty Traveller would suggest: stuffed pork tenderloin with pilaf, fresh Goat Cheese Focaccia, or most simple fair - even the lowly soft-pretzel may be raised to new levels!

So we raise a pint to this traveller!

For those of you who wish to be the first to enjoy a pint of our treasured brew, you are invited to take part in the Release event being held at the brewery on Thursday April 10th at 7:00. Please contact the brewery to reserve your spot as space is limited. Retail sales will be available at the brewery or on tap at your favorite bar or restaurant bold enough to feature it on tap.

The event will also feature blind samples of other notable beers to be revealed at the end of the night.

Platform 14—Home Brew Competition!

Do you have what it takes to Brew the Best Brew? We want to find out! Railway City Brewing Co. is launching their third annual Home Brew Competition that encourages home brewers to submit their Best Brew!

The timing of the Competition ties in well with the National Home Brew Day, held annually on the first Saturday of May. That event brings together thousands of home brewers from around the world, all brewing the same beers simultaneously. More than 5,000 home brewers from North America, Europe, Africa, Asia, South America and Australia are expected to participate this year.

Home brewers have been instrumental in the development and appreciation of craft beer around the world. Many Craft breweries have either been started by home brewers, or many have home brewers working in the brewing aspect of the business.

The winners will compete for cash prizes plus the bragging rights and opportunity to brew a full size batch alongside Railway City Brewing’s brewer. The winner will also have their signature identified on the bottles of their brew, which will also be featured as this year’s “Platform 14”, one of Railway City’s Seasonal offerings to be released later in July.

Recognizing the Home Brewers and providing them a platform to create something special.  The creative process is alive and well throughout the craft brewing industry.

“Railway City is proud to share the spotlight and provide a Platform for the home brewer! Creating interesting and delicious brews is something we strive for, and we know the home brewers share this passion as well.” Aaron Lycett, avid Home-brewer, and Railway City Brewing Co. - Retail Supervisor

This year’s Platform 14 - Homebrew competition begins now, and entries are required to be submitted by April 27th, 2014.
